主讲人简介:
Professor Wei Shen received his BEng (Chem Eng) degree from Tsinghua University, China in 1982. He has completed his PhD study of Physical Chemistry in 1991 and postdoc appointments in La Trobe University (Australia). In 1995, Wei Shen joined Monash University. Currently, he is the research leader of the Surface Engineering Group of the Australian Pulp and Paper Institute, Department of Chemical Engineering, Monash University, Australia.
Wei Shen’s research field is interface science and surface engineering, in particular on paper surface modification and printing. Since 2008, he started new research in low-cost bioactive microfluidic sensors by modifying and printing microfluidic systems on paper, threads and polymer substrates. More recently, he devoted new research on powder-liquid interface phenomena, liquid marble micro reactors and nanocellulose. So far, he has published more than 150 research articles on the journals such as Angewandte Chemie, Chemical Communications, Lab On A Chip, Analytical Chemistry, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Biosensors and Bioelectronics, Langmuir, Chemical Engineering Journal, etc. His work has also been covered widely by international media, including News in ABC, BBC, DPA (German Press Agency), Discovery Channel; as well as by a number of professional associations, such as American Chemical Society, and Royal Society of Chemistry. Wei Shen’s group has received The Australian Museum Eureka Prize for Innovative Use of Technology (national) and IChemE Dhirubhai Ambani Chemical Engineering Innovation for Resource-Poor People Award (worldwide). Wei Shen has been thinking and working on how to improve postgraduate research and education. He has been invited to present in several major conferences his views on research and education on creativity.
